The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna
by Juliet Grames
I am in love with this book. I am in love with the author's voice, the character of Stella Fortuna, the very authentic descriptions of norms and traditions that dictate life in the tiny village in Italy, the experience and struggle of newly arrived immigrants in 1930's in United States. Stella is a fighter, no matter what life throws at her. I wondered how a character like Stella would fare if she was born in our times. A fantastic read.
