The Beach Reads Book Club by Kathryn Freeman

4.0

The real romance in The Beach Reads Book Club by Kathryn Freeman is the enduring love of reading books, particularly ‘beach read’ books. This love is shared by the cast of characters led by Lottie along with her best friend Sally, and Heidi, Gira, Amy and Audrey, the gin swilling 80 something who loves to read racy novels.

In sharing their passion for romance novels (or whatever it’s called ‘chick lit’ ‘women’s fiction’ ‘rom com’), these characters find community. And in the case of Lottie, a romance of her own with bookshop owner Matt, whose introverted and nursing wounds from his past.

This book is a delightful, fun and sometimes steamy ode to romance novels, and the magic of how books can take people to another place from their everyday life. You will definitely want to take a copy on your next trip to the beach,
