You can see my main review on the first two books in the series posted on the first book if you’re interested but I just wanted to add something a bit more specific for this book on top of that, as this has more spoilers in it for the first book.

Thank you to pride book tours for the copies of the first and second book of the series In exchange for an honest review.

One thing I really love about the second book, is that it doesn’t paint Captain cinder as a full blown hero. She isn’t George, who cares quite deeply about the common people. She very much just cares about her crew and George for the vast majority of situations. Because of this she becomes quite controlling throughout this book as she tries to keep everything from boiling over and I thought it was a really interesting look into her thought process. That said, I didn’t enjoy her point of view quite as much as I like George’s, as at times she annoyed me a little bit with how eager she was to make decisions for the both of them. Thankfully by the end of the book most of this tension had been resolved.

I also thought it was interesting to get more of a peek into the girls history by introducing a certain character who I won’t spoil. I wasn’t a massive fan of how that storyline resolved but it was still interesting to read about.

This series in general is very fun, with some serious moments, and plot twists. I’m really interested to see where the next book takes us and to see what’s next for our pirates. I recommend this to anybody who is a fan of pirate books, action adventure books, and sapphic romance.
