The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

4.0

This is such a joy to read. It’s a real page-turner, but its seeming simplicity belies a complex premise and plenty of emotional depth. As usual, Matt Haig deals with the nuances of mental health with assurance and sensitivity.

A point off for predictability - although some might call it inevitability - and occasionally over-egging a didactic point. But it’s a fantastic story idea, told masterfully and with respect for a reader who wants to be entertained without being patronised.
