This novel felt like the writers opened a window into real life Provo Utah. This queer coming-of-age romance manages to be wholesome (in its way) as well as deeply thought provoking. It portrays the love and goodness of Latter-day Saints as well as the painful exclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals in the church. The cultural details and the experience of being raised in a Mormon family definitely rang true. There is no black and white here but many shades of gray. This is the book I wish every young gay Mormon could read.
