Seek You: A Journey Through American Loneliness by Kristen Radtke

informative reflective sad medium-paced

4.0

I appreciated this book as a piece of art and of storytelling - the way she uses art and real people references is really captivating and cool. And I thought it was an interesting topic to dive into, especially when she examines the gendered perceptions of loneliness. Overall, though, this really bummed me out and didn't fill me with much hope or even much of a conclusive takeaway - there are no suggestions for how to bridge our loneliness gap, but there is a lot of horrific content about Harry Harlowe's sadistic monkey experiments, which I knew about but didn't want to read about in detail. So, the tl;dr is that I appreciated this book's artistry and scope but it didn't leave me feeling very good, and that might just be more about where my headspace is at these days.
