Decided to go back and review a few books that I remember my opinions on clearly.
So, the best thing about this book was the
amazing plot twist that happened maybe a fifth of the way through.
After that, the book got a bit boring. I wasn't really a fan of the
POV switch to Maud
or the
subsequent plot twists that just felt excessive.

A spoiler-free review of this book would be: I was really impressed by the writing style, which felt very authentic to the time period, and by one specific plot moment in the book. Everything else was fine, but I've heard so many glowing reviews about this book that I thought it would be amazing. It's a great book, but maybe not exactly my type of book.
