Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty
2.0

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. From the beginning, it was clear that the characters were vapid, two dimensional, and would have few to no redeeming qualities. The entire story was disjointed, jumping between time and perspectives with seemingly no transitions. Each character was so self absorbed in themselves and their feelings it was utterly frustrating. Dakota, the 10 year old, had the most realistic and relatable emotions, while the adults made me want to pull my hair out. As the book came to a poorly timed close, the truth about Harry seemed like a cruel joke, thrown in to add more angst to an already depressing story. The only thing that saved this book was the final few pages - allowing a glimmer of hope that these people might finally realize how wretched they actually are and grow up a bit.
