This is more a family drama than a mystery, even if there are some murders (both cold cases ands the more present ones) at play. Yet, at the heart of the story is the idea od forgiveness - this time to the cold, distant father, who might be guilty from having an affair and not being present at the key place at the key time.

While I loved Erin (the lovely side character), I find the story being quite weak and not engaging enough. Could the police really be so ineffective? The characters´s motives for their behaviours are also a bit of a stretch (like Rachel´s reasonings for not dating a colleague - surely this could be dealt with more effectively).

I find this novel being an easy, uncomplicated ride full of family sweetness. Not my (bloody enough) cup of tea, but it might be perfect as an unassuming ride with some food for thought added.
