Esio Trot
by Roald Dahl
I love Roald Dahl's entertaining writing style and imagery. His stories are very whimsical, but I do see the flaws in this book. Mr. Hoppy lies to Mrs. Silver about her pet, marries her after lying to her, and gives the original tortiose away. I am not a huge fan of having lying a part of a children's book, but at least the tortiose is given to a good home.
In addition, there are other messages to the story: you should not sit and wait on the sidelines your whole life And that patience is key. Summary: this is not a perfect book, but if you are reading it to kids, maybe point out the flaws and teach them lessons from the book's flaws.
