elinor_thirteen 's review for:
Ethan Frome
by Edith Wharton
this is my third edith wharton read this year and i would say that after reading frome, i am a fan for life! frome is a very spare novel and, like all wharton i have read, a tragedy surrounding love and the prisons society creates for people who are "outside the box". this is the first book that didn't take place in NYC that i have read of hers but her description of the bleak new england winters was just detailed enough to give you the right feel. though wharton's subject matter is often sad stuff, she still makes it a compelling and interesting read every time.
