This book is long, and if you're reading a long book with content that makes you feel sad, it's too much. Zuri wanted to go to a music contest for college scouts after she received a rejection from Julliard. There are two problems: her family doesn't think music is worth her time, and the contest is during her sister's wedding week. What made me uncomfortable is how unsupportive and mean her family is. They pressure her and bully her constantly, and I know that's realistic. I just don't want to read about it. I'm sure somewhere in the end there's a turn, but I felt too sad to continue with it. Others should still try it. This is a case of wrong book, wrong reader.
