I didn’t know what to expect when I started this but I know what I wanted when I finished- more.

Just like the author, this is my fantasy debut. The first book in a trilogy. It follows the story of M’Kuru, the sole survivor of the Mukundi family of Madada. Taken in by a blind man, he is given a new identity, Khalil, the illegitimate son of the Red Sun general.
Central to the story is Zikora, a precocious child, who has been invited to court to prevent the fulfilment of an ancient prophecy.

The book centres on power grabbing, freedom, back stabbing, political intrigue, rebellion, corruption and vengeance.

This was interesting, engaging and spellbinding. The world building was very good and easy to follow. Nothing was left to chance as the author took the reader on this imaginary journey.

Told from the points of view of principal players, we are given insights into political workings and machinations that occur behind the scenes.

I am looking forward to reading the concluding parts of the story.

I received a copy of the book and the review is mine and voluntary.
