Extremely well-written, but the prose flows so easily that I was sometimes confused whose perspective was written about. I did feel that some people were almost caricatures, and would’ve liked to know a bit more about the inner workings of most characters. The privileges of the white family, and how these remain entrenched after the dismantling of apartheid, using them to turn away from the promise central in the story, are outlined very powerfully.
