The Tale of Pigling Bland by Beatrix Potter

2.0

Whilst I much prefer Beatrix's longer stories, this one was too "bland" to be enjoyable. In all the other tales I find that each animal has its own little characteristics that seem to speak from their true animal natures, but the pigs in this are fairly boring and not quite how I (or we universally) I think of pigs.

There are fewer and fewer watercolour illustrations in these later books as well, which reflects both Beatrix's failing eyesight and her switch to caring for the environment.

Still an enjoyable tale but doesn't have the dark aspects of previous ones, nor indeed the endearing enjoyability.
