I must be thick in the head because I didn’t catch the symbolism of this book with the telling of Jesus/Christianity. After reading some comments, I can see it in the most basic of terms but as I was reading the book, honestly, the comparison never came to my mind.
With that said, I found the story interesting. I think a part of me expected a little bit more complexity but I won’t be so harsh in my judgement of the characters as I realize this is a children’s book. Still though, I felt that some scenes could have been expanded on. I hate when action is skipped over or big revelations don’t have as much impact. The book started so well just to have, what I felt to be, a rushed ending. Nonetheless, I’m choosing to continue with the series to see what other stories and adventures the author has planned for his characters - 3 stars.
