The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn
3.5

This was a really interesting book about a subject I hadn’t learnt about before. It was emotionally engaging and the characters were nuanced. I did struggle a little bit to start with as the scene kept changing with very little guidance between place so I did feel slightly lost. I also feel that too many characters were introduced too quickly for me to fully grasp them. However, the middle section of this book picked up greatly with interesting slice of life based narrative scattered with immersive tension. Character relationships flourished and the scene was fully set with adequate discussion about contemporary issues. This said, it did start to flop again towards the end of the book with the US your becoming a slog of the same old, same old. Regardless of this, I did remain largely engaged due to the likeable nature of the main girl.
