The Curse of Ophelia
by Nicole Platania
A good fantasy takes the reader on an epic journey, a great one also takes them on an emotional one. I really loved Ophelia’s journey both mentally and physically. We begin the book with a heroine angry at the world and at herself, and through moments with friends and on her quest, start the process of grieving and forgiving. I loved that her emotional wellness journey was as essential to the plot as anything else.
While I definetly was confused about world building at some points, the crux of this story was the found family and that really shined through. I now have a new book boyfriend in Tolek (he’s mine I call him), and loved seeing everyone else’s interactions with each other (as an older sister I was LIVING at the interactions between Jezebel and Ophelia) I’m really excited to see where this world takes me next!
