The Player
by K. Bromberg
The Player is my third book by K. Bromberg and my feelings were mixed. In fact, my feelings toward this one reflected my feelings toward my first K. Bromberg read. As I loved my second K. Bromberg read, I’ve reached the conclusion it’s the authors sports romances I have trouble with. I’m extremely picky when it comes to the sports romances I read, and the author’s sports romances have failed to grip me in the way I’d hoped.
Although The Player had me hooked and curious to see how everything would come together, I never felt the connection to the characters and the events that I had hoped for. There were too many clichés and predictable elements for me, and it wasn’t until late in the story that the storyline took centre stage. At that point, I powered through the pages to see what happened. It was over very quickly, however, leaving a lot of things hanging for the next book.
I’ll read the sequel, as I’m curious about what is to come next, but I think I’ll stick to non-sports romances from the author in the future.
