I’m a sucker for any kind of ivy league / secret society plot line, so I had some high hopes for this one! Unfortunately, it was pretty slow for the first half of the book, and it didn’t really have me hooked / needing to know what happens next until about the last 25%. The relationships were the high points for me.
I really liked a lot of the tension between her and Darlington, so I was sad that was only in flashbacks
but Alex’s relationship with the police officer, Dawes, and Grays also kept me  interested.  It was also hard to try and keep all the societies, specialities, and characters straight - I craved deep dives and histories into the background and traits of each one on their own.  Overall, it was good - but i’m not sure if i’m hooked enough to want to dive into the sequel.
