You Had Me At Hello by Mhairi McFarlane

3 may not look like that high a review but, as i am not a romance book girly, this is truly all i could’ve wanted from a romance book <3 exactly the vibe of “i want to put on a cheesy romcom film and rate it 3 stars on letterboxd”

an actual likeable male lead ! a believable romance storyline ! fun uni antics ! fleshed out friends and side characters ! actually funny dialogue !!!!!!

i also really enjoyed it being set in manchester - i’m trying to think of any other books i’ve read set there and idk if there are any???

there were issues along the way (the ending was a bit tooooo all nicely and speedily wrapped up tbh) and there was nothing mind blowing or life changing in this book, except that it has renewed my faith in the ability for romance books to actually be fun and good (i just have to avoid most things recommended on booktok lmfao)
