Just a Taste by Briar Prescott

This one hurts bc I really wanted to love it…but I just didn’t

I’m not gonna lie this was a struggle to read & actually finish for many reasons, but mostly because I feel like it was sold as one thing (marriage of convenience) and that was a lie…there’s one point in the story that was fully unnecessary but would at least have been a moment for the “oh hey we are married” part of the story to play a prominent role and it just didn’t.

The actual writing quality was good, but I did find myself skimming quite a bit due to a lot of internal monologuing and just wanting something to happen.

I just felt like tropes/themes were trying to be forced into the story but then they’d be forgotten about and left unfinished. Also the chapter 44 drama some other reviews have mentioned was so dumb and pointless, and also kind of confusing?

I also almost never complain about being told instead of shown things in books, but this one was egregious
