53 Letters for My Lover by Leylah Attar

4.0

Ehhhh...uhhhh...I was going back and forth between rating this book 3-4 stars. 4 stars because the sex scenes were steamy! 3 because...really!?

I have read a few other books by this author, and love love loooooved them. I kind of went in to this book "blind." Sure - I read what it was about, and had some of an idea what the premise of the story was, but some of the scenes were just ridiculous, and I laughed at the blatant hilarity of it.
Spoiler Like when Shayda gets "caught" having an affair...and her husband gets hit by a car. Really? What's next? An airplane falling out of the sky?

With that being said, I did enjoy this book. The relationship between Shayda and Troy is nothing short of beautiful. I really liked that Shayda's maturity was highlighted throughout the book, and that she was "human" enough to feel pain and jealousy, but also mature enough to understand her feelings were not justified because of their situation.

I rated this book 4 stars mainly because of the relationship between Shayda and Troy, and how it had progressed. I do think a lot of the "middle pieces" could have been cut out. There was A LOT of "back and forth" between the two relationships, and I know that was the main premise of the book, but I did start skimming through parts when I felt as if I was getting yo-yo'd. Overall it was a good book. Not one of my favorites, but it was good enough to finish!
