Rules for Being a Girl by Candace Bushnell
5.0

I thought this book was wonderful. The characters in the story touched on all the things that matter to me. Love that it was a feminist novel. What I didn’t love so much was the fact that Marin, the main character, (spoiler alert) befriended her former best friend in the end. After the way her friend treated her, she shouldn’t have become friends with her again. She let her off the hook so quickly. That’s bull! And she tried so hard to be friends with her throughout the story when her friend treated her terribly and seemed to have no interest in being friends with her. I didn’t like that. And I was so pissed when the school didn’t do shit about that teacher when Marin came forward and told the principal what he did to her. Shame on that school! More people had to come forward in order for the school to take the matter seriously. For real, shame! That really pissed me off. People should believe women! Other than that, I enjoyed the story and thought that it was an important story to tell. I hope a second book comes out. Looking forward to reading it. Read this book when you get the chance, folks! It matters. Happy reading!
