What a ride!
haha.
Anyway, I think I had a love/hate relationship with this book. I really enjoyed the fantasy, and wish it had expanded on the world-building more. I think I enjoyed this the same way I enjoyed Twilight when I was younger. It's teeny and emotions are high, but dam, it sure does drag you in!
I wanted to love the characters, I really did. But the only thing they have that builds any character development seems to be small victories or smut. As someone who is not a fan of romance, I know I'm biased. I just wished the characters had a bit more dimension to them. This book could have so much more depth, if only there was more background!
There are a lot of very cringey moments, which kinda' just gave me the ick. I also found myself getting annoyed at some of the relationships (especially Viloet and her mom) as there was absolutely no background.
However, I was so freaking invested in the dragons and their relationship with the riders. Andarna melts my heart and I absolutely need more of that.
I was on the edge of 3 staring this book due to half of it being a bit too spicy for my liking. But, I went into it knowing that there was romance, so I feel like it'd be unfair to knock it down a star just because romance isn't my thing. It's a wild story, well-written, filled with dragons, and it has me wanting to pick up the sequal on its release.
haha.
