Voyage of the Basilisk by Marie Brennan

4.0

Voyage of the basilisk was probably my favorite Lady Trent memoir to date, because she has really stepped into her own skin and become even more compelling than she was before. Also, I really enjoy all of the taxonomy of dragons in these books, and I was so excited that sea serpents got to be part of the discussion. And I was very happy that her son was a major feature in this book, he is a good character and will I think be fun to watch in future installments. While I really enjoy Isabella's practical mindedness, when the plot is seen entirely through her eyes, it can make some of the action a little less exciting than it would perhaps otherwise be. While this may be a little drawback, it does add some sort of dry humor to the situations she finds herself in and definitely does not end up deterring me from looking forward to Lady Trent's next publication.
