A Tip for the Hangman by Allison Epstein

3.0

I'm not sure this book knew what it wanted to be. Considering the wild character that Christopher Marlowe was and that the book is about his espionage, I expected it to be more exciting and suspenseful. The end however brought it up for me from 2 to 3 stars... Not because there was an amazing twist, since even a small amount of research tells you how the story ends (I watched a four-minute video overview of Marlowe on YouTube which gave me the context I needed for the book), but because that section was written with the emotion and tension I would have expected from the previous chapters.
