A Column of Fire by Ken Follett

4.0

A convoluted and implausible tale, but one which kept me totally engaged. Follett's true talent is in depicting the personal struggles and passions of individuals that ultimately have shaped our history. He confronts us with the uncomfortable truth of the bloody and horrific battle for dominance between the various Christian factions of the 16th century: protestants, Catholics, puritans and Anglicans.
My takeaway from this book is tolerance and an HUGE appreciation of the separation of church and state established in the US.
