If you’re a sci-fi fan, you should definitely give it a shot, given it’s the first part of a duology…
It’s narrative style and dense chapters isn’t for everyone. It’s highly imaginative and emotional at times, but writing style and quality quickly shifts throughout..which can lead to whiplash..
Also some arcs have very intricate prose and I found it hard to follow..also the overall narrative arc remains stationary for the most part which culminates to a bland ending..
Overall a mixed bag
