The Forgotten Sisters
by Shannon Hale
Miri has been tasked by the King and Queen to go to a swampy area of the kingdom to teach the royal cousins how to be proper princesses. Unfortunately when she arrives she finds that the girls have been so focused on staying alive and finding enough to eat that they don’t have any time to worry about non-essential things like deportment, history, or reading. Miri knows the girls should have been getting a stipend from the King and Queen, so where is the money going and can Miri get it back? Someone is controlling the mail, the money, and Miri’s letters pleading for help. She is on her own in a place so different from her mountain home that it seems like she’s already failed before she can even start. Can Miri fix all these problems teach the royal cousins and unravel the mysteries that have been long hidden in the swamp? This was an astounding end to a series that I wish didn’t have to end. For those who have read the other two and can’t wait to read more set in this world.
