SHOUT OUT TO MY FIRST 5 STARRED BOOK OF THE YEAR!
Tomasu is an ordinary child who lived in his village, or so i thought. After the slaughter happened in the place he was born and raised, he met Lord Shigeru of Otori who saved him from The Vicious Lord Iida Sadamu of Inuyama who is so close to killing him. Shigeru asked Tomasu to cover his true identity, so from that time he will introduce himself as Takeo. Shigeru adopted him, and under his tutelage, Takeo figured out why all this time he has been blessed with his 'unusual' abilities, and it suprisingly was related to his biological father who died before he was born. He met his father's association and made a deal with them which caused him a dilemma of choosing between Lord Shigeru who he respected on or his coalition... but picking a choice is never that easy.
What i like from this book:
-Otori Shigeru was a gentleman everyone dreamed of. A leader who's loved by his folks.
-I also love the character development of Otori Takeo from an innocent child to an unstoppable and strong personality human being. His loyalty to Lord Shigeru is unquestionable.
-Not to mention Shirakawa Kaede, she's my favorite (kinda related to her cuz we both hate men). She's the daughter of one of the biggest clan's King but she isn't educated well and never got proper learnings, but she's strong and brave to keep the men who wanted to hurt her because of her beauty away. A paragraph isn't enough for me to describe how i love her.
-The tension between Kaede and Takeo, even though they're rarely talking to each other properly but they both yearned and down bad for each other. The trope is love at first sight which i thought it will be boring but absolutely not. At the end they might be partners in crime lmao
-The writing are so detailed and beautifully described. I understand if some people get bored of this book because it has many things to be explained. But for me it makes the book perfect, i even have a movie-vision while reading this.
-The complex conflict with intriguing politic stuffs are chef's kiss.
-The dynamics between characters especially Shigeru and Takeo as a stepfather and stepson. Feels like found family to me.

Shigeru and Lady Maruyama's death had my heart broken, but i'm glad they'll meet in the afterlife and being happy together with their child 🥹
