Bittersweet by Morgan Elizabeth

3.0

Definitely not my fave, but I did it. I’m wavering between a solid 3 stars and 3.5.

Reading this book really showed me that I am NOT the right audience for “enemies to lovers.” I was so frustrated, aggravated, and turned off/confused for a lot of this. The things that Ben would say that, in any other book, probably would’ve made me have butterflies and slap my hand over my mouth had me…cringing. I don’t think this trope is meant for me, and sadly—maybe because of this trope?—I didn’t really vibe with either of the main characters in this story.

There were some moments where, unfortunately, the relationship/conversations/interactions between Lola and Ben felt very…one sided, and a little…icky for me. But once I got in deeper to the book and the story and Lola opened herself up to him, it felt better — plus I’m a freaking sucker for “daddy” talk in the bedroom. 3 stars, wouldn’t be the first Morgan Elizabeth book I recommend, Ben is my least fave Morgan Elizabeth man, and tbh from this series I loved Vic and Gabi most <3 <3 Taking a little breather before diving into Morgan’s other series, Springbrook Hills.
