I was oddly compelled to read this after the first one and I saw it through in the hopes it would improve. It did not. 29 year old, seemingly intelligent main character who at times acts more like a vacuous teen. So many fundamental changes to the main female character without reason or real explanation and too much hidden without reason. Characters are all surface level, they could be so much more. There's a good story in here somewhere but it's like the author didn't have a clear plan or kept changing it up without much or any explanation. 

Sadly I won't be looking out for book 3.
