Harry's Trees
by Jon Cohen
If you are going to read and enjoy Harry's Trees, set aside your cynicism and skepticism and just go along for the ride. This fairy tale about fairy tales does not have a believable plot (spoiler - everyone has a happy ending), but it's a love letter to stories and libraries and friendship and forgiveness and not fighting back and people and the power of nature.
It has a grim beginning when two people lose their spouses in the first three chapters. But I'm not going to over-analyze the plot or the characters. You'll either get swept up by the story or you won't. I was. Harry's Trees is a Hallmark-movie of a book.
