The perfect book to read for Brigerton fans and maybe Jane Austen readers. Best enjoyed if you already have an understanding about the regency era given the plots and details. I think Moreno also did a good job balancing a romance with supernatural elements.

The book overall was very enjoyable and entertaining. Valerie was so insufferable she’s lucky she was not harmed by anybody in this (but it would’ve been valid if she were). I wished that I could’ve felt more attached to the characters though. Main or side characters, I didn’t feel any REAL connection—the closest was with Nina.

Why are there guided questions? I don’t think this book really requires any. One question  includes etienne being a main man but we don’t really see much about his character to garner a question. We know he’s hectors level headed, wealthy “beautiful one” friend. But that’s it. I think we should’ve gotten more characterization from side characters.

Also for this to be called the beautiful ones, we don’t really lean on that group much. It seems like the only ones included in that were fair, blue eyed blondes. So is this a stand-in for white supremacy?
