Favorite book of the year to date! Read this for a book club called “weird books for weird people” and yeah! Follows a convergence of people in the Arizona desert over the course of one summer. Not much happens honestly but I just loved the meandering thoughts, weird obsessions, and the boldness of the characters. Joy Williams writing style is so great. This is my first by her and I can’t wait to read her other books! It’s like Pynchon and Tom Robbins (but not gross) mixed with a little Leslie Marmon Silko. This book made me nostalgic for my younger self and her curiosity and obsession with oddities. Really left an impression on me! I’m obsessed and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it
