Because of You
by Dawn French
Read for staff book club.
On New Year’s Day, two women are giving birth at a hospital. Later that day, one of them leaves with a happy, healthy girl and the other leaves with empty arms. Seventeen years later, the truth of what happened that day finally surfaces leading to a series of heart-warming and heart-breaking events.
The first 4/5 of this novel were good, but a little slow-paced and boring at times. It wasn’t until the last 50 pages that the novel really started to move me. And then it was like a tidal wave. I probably cried just as much water as one. I would have enjoyed exploring more of the story after the truth comes out. I wanted to see more happen for Anna’s character in particular.
