I think this book would be a lovely read for some people but I’m not the right reader.
The concept & the first couple chapters had me really intrigued. Inheriting a whole estate in London? I mean that sounds like a dream.
The two biggest things that made me rate the book this way are the following:
- I hate third person POV. This is such a personal preference but I have to put this in my review because it truly alters the way I read the story. I genuinely think I would have rated this book much higher if it was in first person, but especially if it was in first person alternating POVs with more dialogue & banter.
- The love story was just not it for me. I felt like I was being told what happened instead of shown. But then again, this could be due to it being in third person.
Overall this was a quick read & very atmospheric which I enjoyed. I don’t think this is a bad book by any means. I just don’t think it was the right book for me. I do think if you enjoy third person you should try it out.
This is the first Danielle Steel book I’ve ever read. I would like to try out some others & see how I like them.
