I hear  Neil Gaiman wrote this book because he wanted kids to know its ok to be scared sometimes. Coraline is a very brave character and although she is alone and frightened she overcomes the fear. I like the message of this story and think it's a great book to teach children about the horror genre! Because there's fun in being a little scared sometimes.
Also his writing style is great I really got uncanny vibes from the "other mother" she was so creepy!
