Miss Marple: The Complete Short Stories by Agatha Christie

4.0

While this book is touted as short stories, many of the stories are interconnected by a gathering of Miss Marple and her friends where they all share a story of a mystery they've encountered and ask the other guests to solve it. One guess as to which guest is the best, and most underrated, sleuth.

I have read almost 50 Agatha Christie novels and short story collections and the majority of them have been Hercule Poirot mysteries. I am working my way towards evening the score a bit with Miss Marple (even though there are far less options starring her). And I actually think she is well-suited to the short story format. I can envision her sitting and listening to all of the stories her friends are sharing and looking perfectly guileless while all the while piecing all the clues together to come up with the solution before anyone else.

As with most short story collections, some of the stories were stronger than others. But overall, I enjoyed this collection. I mean you really can't go wrong with the Queen of Mystery.
