The Flowers of Evil by Charles Baudelaire
4.0

keeping in mind aaron poochigian's liberties of his translations, as he himself noted before baudelaire's pieces begin, this collection is pretty rad. i've never read a more interesting, relevant & well-written, albeit lengthy, introduction to an author & their work than this. the actual poems themselves are fascinating w their concepts (even more so during the time they were written) & the translator does a fantastic job of working on the flow of them. the collection & its creator are complex, i would consider, therefore i wouldn't recommend this if you're going for a more touristic perusal of poetry. but!! there is excellence in this, i swear!!
