I feel like I can't complain about the plot because it told you exactly what it was going to do. So I guess, don't be surprised when you get a little uncomfortable like I was?
The three stars are more for the millennial stereotype I think. Her whole issue was that she only applied for one internship. Which is a super dumb move that goes against everything anyone ever tells you in college, but I could've accepted it and moved on. Except it had to be repeated a thousand times. And she was clearly not doing anything about it! If you're that upset that you only applied to one, start applying for more!! There's always applications open. Her whole character just really fed into the persona that millennials expect things handed to them and don't work hard for anything. Millennials expect free healthcare and jobs that pay a livable wage to be handed to them. And I get the daughter is supposed to be spoiled, but then why does it feel like I'm supposed to root for her?
I know I'm not the target audience of this book, which is why I gave it three stars and not less, but I don't want to get in the habit of giving a lot of grace to authors that don't really seem to be trying to provide realistic characterizations of people that aren't them.
