Convenience Store Woman
by Sayaka Murata
Strong topics of misogyny and fitting into that which society expects of us. This book is quirky and won't be for everyone, but I really enjoyed it. Sometimes we view things as ordinary - in this case Keiko's job at the convenience store - but who are we to decide? A thing that may be boring or unfilling for one person could also bring extreme joy and contentment to another. Thus we come to our main theme of individualism vs socialism. More to come soon on this thought provoking story.
