I love this book! It made me realise many things— how privileged I am, how family can sometimes be the obstacle, there will be a point in life where you need to choose one thing over the other while both of these options seem equally important but you have to let go for its own good. Tara Westover’s style of writing is impressive and her story is worth reading. This memoir was atypical, interesting and excellent. The way the author had to deal with abuse, estrangement, letting go, society standards, her own ideals and new environments which are nowhere near being called home is what makes the story human and one to empathise with, to learn from and reflect upon. The orthodox views, confusion, thoughts and emotions are pictured perfectly and how one’s perspective changes with time and education. This is a must-read!
