There's is quite a bit to unpack here. Not all of it is good, but not all bad either. This book to me is so so. I'm curious enough to read the next book, but I don't have high hopes.

Let me start with Jaxon himself. While he is hot, sexy, and a billionare, he lacks a lot of the scary, intelligent persona of a mafia Don. I feel that the author just took what she saw on TV and thought, oh, that's what a Don is like. It's not. He acted like a petulant child and made some stupid ass decisions in regards to surveillance, his daughters safety, Nats safety, and his own safety. Goodness, he should have done more. There are other mafia books that I like better because the guy is actually decently intelligent and makes more sound decisions.

Now, on to Nat. I do love her so very much. She's sassy and has inner strength. Though she made stupid decisions. I wish she would have been more honest with her family with what Colton did to her, but I get her wanting not to hurt people and keep the peace. I did like that she accepted Jaxon even being terrified about the lifestyle. Yes, she should have listened to Charlie and Josiah, but she saved Charlie and Josiah! Bad ass!! Her impatience in regards to Jaxon's life and when he had to leave did get irritating because what else did she expect.

The plot and the overall book dragged! But, the twists towards the end makes me want to finish the series. Plus the spice was A plus!!!!! I need to know what happens. I hope the characters grow more through the next few books. Jessica, Ethan, Charlie, and Wesley are my favorite! They made this whole book so much better than it would have been without them.
