Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between) by Lauren Graham

emotional funny lighthearted reflective fast-paced

4.0

charming, funny, lightly cynical (yet also inspiring).  Lauren Graham’s gratitude and humility shine through.  a very solid celebrity memoir that Lauren clearly actually wrote (and performed the hell out of).  this book takes no risks and follows a pretty standard celeb memoir format, but it is executed well here so I have no complaints.

if you like Lauren and/or her work, I’m sure you’ll find something to like in this memoir. if you are not familiar with her or not a fan, you should probably skip this.

as far as I’m concerned, there’s two main categories for (decent) celebrity memoirs: ones that everyone should read, regardless of who they’re about (a la I’m Glad My Mom Died), and ones that are mostly meant for preexisting fans. this falls into the latter category, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.  it is certainly not part of the third category: “auto”biographies with no clear focus or personality to them (i.e., Will Smith's abomination of a “memoir”).
