Miraculous how a young child survived the brutality and cruelty of the Japanese in the internment camp. I had to put the book down many times as it is hard to read about the abuse and matter of fact way JG Ballard writes about the death and dying on a daily basis. How he made it to adulthood relatively unscathed is amazing. Read the book or watch the movie and then read the book.
