Waiting for You by Susane Colasanti

I really really wanted to love this book. I’ve been searching for a copy as this is really the last book by her that sparked my interest. But it came up very short handed. I will say it’s outdated with references which generally isn’t a problem as I tend to read everything late. But it was almost to much for me. In all honesty if I knew this book was about 15/16 year olds I probably wouldn’t of bought it. But since I did I decided to work through it and give it a chance. But it was very cringy to read. It felt like being in my 12 year old sisters head when she discusses all her little crushes and everything. I honestly don’t think I would of liked it if I read it for the age group it’s for due to the fact of what I was reading even then which tended to be more adult oriented if it was romance. I will say there are a lot of good things in this book like the Dirk plot line but I really wish we would of got more of it. But with the attempt to bring in anxiety, depression, and divorce all in one time really threw the book off. I mean it was handled okay-ish but I feel like the anxiety specifically was just randomly sprinkled in. Like it would randomly come up and just as quickly go away in the reading. I would recommend to others who are closer to age in the characters just because it may be an easier read for them but even then I’d have a list of warnings before handing it over.
