Fantastic worldbuilding! It's the most interesting one I've read this year, and I haven't read anything like this before (if that tells you something about the quality of this books, or my reading habits, remains to be seen). There were many different kinds of people, that were strange and alien, yet they were utterly believable and had a realistic feeling to them: they felt like a complete culture, unlike some fantasy races I've read that mostly differentiated by cosmetic aspects. Truly, I was drawn into the story to learn more about the world and the Raksura, and the point of view character Moon was the perfect narrator to guide me as he himself discovered the culture.
I was not as interested in the plot or the characters, they didn't quite work for me for reasons I'm unable to articulate in any way other than "boring". However, the worldbuilding makes up for the plot and characters - which is why I give this book four stars, and if I read the sequels it will be solely to revisit this fantastic world.
