Nikki Payne GETS Jane Austen. There's a real deep level of respect and understanding of the relationship dynamics in P&P that are expertly woven into this re-telling. It's expertly crafted, and I'm super excited to see what she does with other Austen adaptations. Despite all this, I found a lot of the ways in which the Bennet sisters interacted with their online communities to be deeply cringey and out of touch (Liza uses a selfie stick for routine Instagram lives in what I'm assuming is not 2012?). I unfortunately could not look past it and it did effect how much I was able to connect to the characters.
